%newline%Because of the paralyzing and chronic condition, persons with ALS are unable to do daily household tasks. A volunteer could play an important role in reducing stress level and increasing quality of life by helping in the home with:

%newline%- Meals
%newline%- Light Maintenance
%newline%- Snow Removal
%newline%- Visit with 11 year old child
%newline%
%newline%Day/Time: Flexible
%newline%Frequency: Flexible

%newline%For safety reasons, this screening process and training is required for volunteers:

%newline%- Interview and Orientation (1.5 hours)
%newline%- Reference Checks
%newline%- Background Check

%newline%Although it is not contagious, ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, resulting in muscle weakness and paralysis.
