Are movies getting better or worse?I have been saying for years that the faith and family audience will respond to good quality movies so long as they are told without offensive content that often spoils the message. Dove is providing first-hand analysis and private counsel to studios and filmmakers that want to reach the faith and family audience. The Los Angeles Times wrote, “Of all the faith and family groups, The Dove Foundation appears to be making the deepest connections with Hollywood. Its ties to Hollywood are growing so deep these days that its opinion can send a movie back to the editing room before its release.” We love doing what we do, but we cannot do it alone. We need your prayers and financial support so that we can continue making a difference in the entertainment industry. Your tax-deductible gift enables us to continue helping you and the millions of families that count on us. Go to www.dove.org and click on “SUPPORT DOVE” to make your contribution today.
FIREPROOF, a must-see movie for couples! On September 26th Sherwood Baptist Church releases FIREPROOF, a movie about a marriage in disarray. Kirk Cameron plays Caleb Holt, a hard working firefighter and inattentive husband more interested in the Internet than his wife. A common complaint among troubled married couples is, “If my spouse would change everything would be fine.” Senior pastor Michael Catt said, “the issue here is not ‘I need to fix my spouse’. It’s ‘I need to fix me’.” The point of making FIREPROOF is to “point people back to God, who designed the covenant of marriage which has almost been reduced to just a piece of paper.” I was invited to visit the set of FIREPROOF during filming. A rule that unmarried couples may not kiss in a Sherwood Church movie presented a dilemma for this film which is all about reconciliation in a marriage. The producers found a clever way to get their shot without compromising the rules. See the Dove Foundation review at http://dove.org/MovieReview.asp?Unique_ID=7205
