Outpatient ProgramCrossroads for Women's Outpatient Program offers individual, couples, family and group counseling, as well as individual counseling and psychiatric consultation for women who experience both substance abuse and mental health issues. Counseling may serve as an aftercare component for women completing more structured residential or intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment. Clients meet regularly with an individual therapist and may participate in one or more specialized group for women in recovery. Group topics may include relapse prevention, parenting in recovery and relationships. All clients participate in treatment planning geared to individual needs and goals. Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)The Intensive Outpatient Program may be a first step for women beginning their journey to recovery. It may also serve as aftercare treatment for those women who might first require a more structured residential treatment to help them stabilize in sobriety. Clients participate in intensive treatment three to five days a week, three hours per day in Crossroads for Women’s outpatient office in Portland, Maine. Gender-specific treatment issues are explored with an emphasis on addiction education, relapse prevention and tools for recovery. All clients participate in treatment planning geared to individual needs and goals. Women who cannot participate in residential treatment or do not meet admission criteria for residential treatment may find Crossroads for Women’s Intensive Outpatient Program a practical alternative. Outpatient Services for Friends & Family MembersCrossroads for Women's Outpatient Program offers support, education and counseling designed specifically for family and friends of women and men who struggle with addiction, regardless of their choices around treatment. The Outpatient Program also offers “The Effects of Addiction on Friends & Family” to anyone who has a loved one with a substance abuse problem, male or female, who may or may not be in treatment. The 4-week educational series explores the basics of addiction, the recovery process and how to be supportive of the loved one while also taking care of you. Classes are held throughout the year at Crossroads for Women's outpatient office in Portland, ME on Tuesday evenings in a positive, supportive environment. Certificates of attendance are available to all participants, and light refreshments are served. DEEP Services for WomenThe Driver Education and Evaluation Programs (DEEP) of the Office of Substance Abuse, Department of Health and Human Services, administers the Impaired Driving Programs in the state of Maine. The goals of the program are to provide effective, efficient and meaningful interventions for impaired drivers according to Maine law so that public safety is maintained. Crossroads for Women is DEEP certified to provide evaluation and treatment to Maine women ages 18 and over. To receive DEEP services at Crossroads for Women, please call 207.773.9931 to participate in a brief phone screening and schedule an evaluation.
Children And Mothers Program (CAMP)Children & Mothers Program (CAMP) is the only program in Maine that provides on-site living arrangements and daycare to minor children of mothers in recovery from chemical dependency. Children from 6 weeks to age 10 may live with their mother while she participates in the Residential Rehabilitation and Halfway House residential treatment programs. Professional day care staff has experience in working with children with behavioral and developmental issues. CAMP clinical staff has special expertise in teaching and modeling appropriate parenting techniques. In addition, parenting skills classes are offered along with age appropriate educational tools designed to help children better understand and cope with their mothers' chemical dependency. Residential RehabilitationThe 15-bed Residential Rehabilitation program provides women beginning their recovery a safe, comfortable surrounding in Windham, Maine. Established in 1974, this short-term program is structured to help women identify and accept their chemical dependency, identify relapse triggers and develop more appropriate coping skills to maintain abstinence. Twenty-four hour staffing is provided. All clients participate in treatment planning geared to individual needs and goals. Individual, group and family counseling sessions are provided, along with educational programs for clients and their families. Clients also participate in 12-step meetings and recreational activities and are actively involved in developing their aftercare plans. Crossroad Back Cove Halfway HouseCrossroads Back Cove is a 12-bed halfway house program for recovering chemically dependent women in Portland, Maine. The program is appropriate for women who have completed short-term, intensive treatment or have had previous experiences in recovery. Twenty-four hour staffing is provided. All clients participate in treatment planning geared to individual needs and goals. The halfway house program utilizes a phase system of treatment in three life areas: managing emotions and increasing self-awareness; interacting with others; and meeting needs in the community. Clients are required to work, attend school, volunteer or engage in some other meaningful activities outside of the program in the latter phases of treatment. Aftercare planning includes referrals to appropriate community resources for counseling, housing, medical and psychiatric care, education, work and/or vocational rehabilitation, as needed. Cumberland Commons Transitional HousingCumberland Commons is an 8-unit transitional housing development in Windham, Maine built to provide safe, transitional living arrangements for women who have completed a substance abuse treatment program. Cumberland Commons has five 2-bedroom and three 3-bedroom apartments. It accepts a variety of subsidized housing programs for its occupants, though those with resources will be charged market rental rates. Transitional housing provides residents the opportunity to consistently practice independent living skills in a healthy, sober environment. Tenants are strongly encouraged to continue to participate in a recovery program throughout their residency and may live with their minor children. Learn How to Cope With a Loved Oneâ??s AddictionTuesday, November 04, 2008 - Tuesday, November 25, 2008Crossroads for Women offers \"The Effects of Addiction on Friends & Family\" to anyone who has a loved one with a drug or alcohol problem, male or female, who may or may not be in treatment. \"The Effects of Addiction on Friends & Family\" explores the basics of addiction, the recovery process and how to be supportive of an addicted loved one while also taking care of you. The 4-week series is held on scheduled Tuesday evenings in a positive, supportive environment. The cost for the series is $25 per friend or family group per session, or $85 for all 4 sessions paid in advance. The sessions run from 6:00pm - 7:30pm. Free parking is available and light refreshments are served. Certificates of participation are also available.
